Asset Engineer

Cloncurry Shire Council is seeking an experienced Asset Engineer to join our Infrastructure & Environment team. About the Role

Reporting to the Manager of Infrastructure, the Asset Engineer plays a key role in the development, implementation and ongoing improvement of Council’s asset management systems and frameworks.

This position is responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining Asset Management Plans (AMP) and contributing to the Long-Term Financial Plan (LTFP)
  • Maintaining and improving Council’s asset register and condition data
  • Supporting capital works planning and renewal programs
  • Undertaking infrastructure condition assessments
  • Providing specialist asset management advice across the organisation
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislative, regulatory, audit and reporting requirements
  • Supporting annual financial reporting and asset valuations

About You

Council is seeking a candidate who:

  • Has demonstrated experience in strategic and operational asset management within a local government or similar infrastructure environment
  • Has experience developing, implementing and reviewing Asset Management Plans
  • Has strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret asset data and inform investment decisions
  • Is experienced in infrastructure inspection, condition assessment and renewal planning
  • Can provide specialist technical advice to internal stakeholders
  • Has experience working with GIS systems and asset management software
  • Can prepare clear and accurate reports, submissions and technical documentation
  • Demonstrates strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Works collaboratively and builds effective relationships across departments
  • Maintains high attention to detail and confidentiality in handling Council information

Mandatory Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering (eligible for membership with Engineers Australia) with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience will be considered;
  • Current "C" Class Driver’s Licence
  • Construction White Card/30215
  • Blue card

Desirable Qualifications

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) (advantageous), or the ability to obtain with Council support
  • Experience in local government asset management
  • Project Management certification
